Campaign Manager position
Over the last year, anti-union attacks in Ohio have escalated significantly. ProgressOhio seeks a Campaign Manager to monitor the activities of anti-union groups and directly push back on their efforts in real-time.
This new role will entail coordinating rapid response tactics as well as efforts to detect and counter anti-union groups as they attempt to spread false information to working people, especially in public-sector unions. The ideal candidate for this role would be creative in coming up with ways to confront anti-union activities and work collaboratively with pro-union allies to execute the pushback.
The Campaign Manager’s responsibilities would include:
- Monitoring the Work of Anti-Union Groups In Real Time. The Campaign Manager would be responsible for collecting data and reports from partners to chronicle anti-union efforts, spotting patterns of activities, detecting illegal actions of adversarial groups and sharing this compiled information with our partners to help everyone see a fuller picture of the anti-union campaigns and tactics being executed in Ohio.
- Developing and Coordinating Push Back. The Campaign Manager would work with allies to develop and execute plans to push back on anti-union activities, often on a rapid response timeline. These plans would include a variety of tactics including traditional organizing tactics, working with the press, opposition research, public records requests, and possible legal action.
- Engagement on Social Media. The Campaign Manager would also be active on social media platforms, monitoring adversarial activities and creating content to shine a spotlight on anti-union efforts to ensure they are not successful.
- Educating on Anti-Union Tactics. The Campaign Manager would educate multiple audiences on the tactics being used by anti-union groups in Ohio.
The Campaign Manager must be able to work with multiple stakeholders in a collaborative way. They must be resourceful in knowing how to monitor anti-union activities on and offline. This role will devise creative, hard-hitting, and impactful tactics to push back on these harmful, anti-union efforts. Some in-state travel will be expected.
The applicant must be committed to strengthening the rights of working people to organize and make their voices heard. They must have an interest in Ohio politics and policy, have some organizing or field experience, and be comfortable executing digital tactics online. This role is well-suited for someone with previous experience as a digital or community organizer who would like to gain substantive experience in organizational communications and media relations.
