ProgressOhio Statement on Today’s Anti-Planned Parenthood Rally

Ohio Right to Life and its allies have scheduled a statehouse rally today to continue the decades-long pattern of harassing Planned Parenthood and the services they provide to women.

The rally was inspired by heavily edited videos that falsely accuse Planned Parenthood of illegal activity.

The following is a statement from ProgressOhio Executive Director Sandy Theis:

Those attacking Planned Parenthood are rewarding the sleazy tactics commonly used by many opponents of abortion rights. The videos in question are heavily edited and do not reflect Planned Parenthood’s long commitment to providing high quality healthcare to millions of Americans.

Fetal tissue research has led to medical miracles. Groundbreaking fetal research created vaccines against measles, rubella and other diseases, and human fetal kidney cells were used to develop the polio vaccine that resulted in the 1954 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Ohio leaders should be focusing on ways to enhance medical research, not undermine it.

A million reasons to #StandWithPP as they face attacks from Ohio’s GOP State rep. says he wants to cut off all public funding to Planned Parenthood
