A year ago, a minority in the Senate voted to block legislation that would have required background checks for all commercial gun sales and saved lives. But even though Congress has stalled, we’ve seen victories in states and cities all over the country, and our movement is stronger than ever. There’s a lot left to do, and your participation in the movement is crucial to passing common-sense laws all over the country.
Next Wednesday, we’re joining with Moms Demand Action for events to remind our elected officials that we aren’t going anywhere until we get comprehensive laws on the books that will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.
What: April 16th Event in Columbus
When: Wednesday, April 16, 2:00 PM
Where: Trinity Baptist Church
461 Saint Clair Ave
Grassroots supporters like you are one of the most important parts of this movement, and next Wednesday is a chance to meet with others who share your commitment to this issue. Winning the battle for comprehensive gun laws is going to take time, and we’re going to rely on you to keep making change block by block, city by city — until the 90% of Americans who support background checks are represented in the halls of power.
Since Newtown, there have been at least 60 more school shootings,1 and just last week, a mass shooting at Fort Hood made it all too clear that even members of our military aren’t safe from gun violence when they’re stationed at home. That’s why it’s more important than ever that our elected leaders hear our message: we’re committed to reducing gun violence and saving lives — and we aren’t afraid to hold them accountable in elections if they don’t do the right thing.
Please sign up today to attend this event, and commit to being a part of this growing movement:
