Tyler Dillon joined ProgressOhio in May 2017 and serves as the Digital Communications & Fundraising Specialist. From field to finance to research to communications for campaigns and on the official side, Tyler has worked in almost every department there is in politics.
Tyler came to ProgressOhio after serving as Communications Director for New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky, where he fought for statewide ethics reform, clean drinking water and reliable, affordable public transportation.
Tyler began his political career as a field organizer for Martin O’Malley in rural Iowa. Afterwards, he stayed in Iowa and worked for Patty Judge’s Senate campaign against Chuck Grassley. Starting as a finance assistant, he also worked as a policy and opposition research assistant before being being named Digital and Deputy Communications Director.
Before entering politics, Tyler served as an AmeriCorps VISTA with the Food Bank of Iowa, where he ran town hall-style meetings across the state to spread awareness about food insecurity and establish food assistance programs.
A lover of the Bengals, Chicago deep dish pizza and the Iowa State Fair butter cow, Tyler is the Midwest’s biggest fan. He graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Political Science and minors in Economics and Religious Studies. Tyler is passionate about protecting human rights – including the right to healthcare – and making sure our economy works for everyone.
