Screwed By Trump?
ProgressOhio and American Bridge Promote Website
To Help People Tell How They’ve Been Screwed
DonaldTrumpScrewedMe.com will collect the stories of victims and help them connect with others who want Ohio to know the real Donald Trump
Cincinnati – From allegations of housing discrimination, to contractors and small business owners who haven’t been paid, to investors in developments who were hung out to dry, wherever Donald Trump goes a trail of lawsuits and unpaid workers often follows.
To bring these stories out of the shadows and help stories of Trump’s mistreatment come to light, ProgressOhio has teamed up with American Bridge to launch a website where Ohioans can tell their stories. By sharing their stories, those who have been abused by Trump can help to spotlight his predatory business practices and educate voters about the real Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump is a con man with a well-documented record of skipping out on his bills, discriminating against minorities, duping veterans and single parents and the elderly, and profiting even as he’s screwed over investors and run businesses into the ground,” said ProgressOhio Executive Director Sandy Theis. “It’s particularly shameful that Trump University intentionally took advantage of people who wanted to improve themselves. Instead of helping them, Trump enriched himself.”
The website is being promoted across the state through online digital advertisements with an emphasis on Cincinnati – where Trump was sued for allegedly turning away African Americans looking to rent – and in Toledo and Greater Youngstown, where Trump University actively recruited and scammed students.
ProgressOhio and American Bridge will promote in these areas where Trump is known to have taken advantage of Ohioans with his unethical business practices, but note that victims could be found in almost every corner of Ohio.
DONALD TRUMP: SERIAL DEFAULTER
“A USA TODAY NETWORK analysis found he has been involved in more than 3,500 lawsuits over the past three decades — and a large number of those involve ordinary Americans…who say Trump or his companies have refused to pay them…Trump’s companies have also been cited for 24 violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act since 2005 for failing to pay overtime or minimum wage…The actions in total paint a portrait of Trump’s sprawling organization frequently failing to pay small businesses and individuals, then sometimes tying them up in court and other negotiations for years. In some cases, the Trump teams financially overpower and outlast much smaller opponents, draining their resources. Some just give up the fight, or settle for less; some have ended up in bankruptcy or out of business altogether.”
Additionally, a Los Angeles Times investigation uncovered more than 1,000 pages of documents from two cases in Cincinnati and New York that demonstrate how accusations of racial discrimination dogged the family business from the earliest days of Donald Trump’s career. “Their vetting operation consisted of looking at what color your skin was,” said Gwenda Blair, who wrote a history of the family’s real estate empire. “It’s certainly a one-step process.”
