About Ohio Voice
Ohio Voice is the “C3 table” that works to increase the collective impact of under-represented communities, focusing on the New American Majority (people of color, single women, and young people). The table includes a wide range of 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan partners working on many progressive issues, recognizing they are stronger together. Our core work is on increasing civic engagement (policy advocacy and voter registration, education, and turnout) through convening, coordinating, and supporting our partners’ programs through capacity building and fundraising support. We also have programs focused on 1) voting rights and 2) budget and tax policy. Ohio Voice is an affiliate of State Voices, a national network.
About the Position
Ohio Voice’s Deputy Director will report to the Executive Director, together forming a close partnership as Ohio Voice builds a strong C3 table. This partnership will include working with partners to set a strategic direction for the table and building relationships with funders and other key stakeholders who support the work. Outreach to current and potential partners, relationship building in the broader political and policy landscape, and consistent professional development and landscape analysis will be vital to a successful Deputy Director’s role.
o A proven commitment to and passion for justice
o A track record of working with under-represented communities, particularly
in communities of color, with demonstrable cultural competency
o Extensive experience working toward civic engagement and/or with
o Significant knowledge of the political and policy landscape in Ohio
o Vision for how to meet our mission and improve our state
o Experience with VAN and other tools preferred
o Ability to travel – frequently in Ohio, some nationally
o Strong project management skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and/or communicate when things change
o Excellent written and oral communication skills, willingness and ability to make presentations
o Must be able to work independently, as a team leader, and as part of a team
o Building and maintaining relationships with partners and allies
o Landscape and gap analysis to share with partners
o Strategic planning and implementation
o Supporting and/or leading fundraising efforts
o Participating in team management and accountability
o Learning best practices and capacity building tools to share
o Talent scouting and leadership development, with a focus on racial equity
o Developing national relationships and partnerships
Starting salary for this position is $65-75,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus benefits.
Ohio Voice is based in Columbus, but telecommuting or other arrangements could be made for the right candidate in other parts of Ohio.
