Positions Available in Either Cleveland or Columbus
The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio is hiring! We are seeking motivated professionals with community and civic engagement advocacy experience to fill two Policy Associate positions. These staff members will play an integral role in the implementation and management of our various priority policy campaigns, including our Transgender Education and Advocacy Program (TEAP), voting rights, and our efforts to end mass incarceration. These are full-time, 40-hour/week positions with a competitive salary and benefits.
The Policy Associates will work directly with community stakeholders, deepen coalition relationships, foster in-state leadership of directly impacted communities, and build a bench of messengers for education and legislative advocacy efforts.
Ideal candidates will have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, an outgoing personality, an ability to travel, and experience in racial justice issues. Individuals who have experience organizing within Ohio’s transgender and gender non-conforming communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
For nearly 100 years, the ACLU has been at the forefront of every major battle for civil liberties and social justice in this country. Principled and nonpartisan, we bring together activists from all walks of life in the advancement of equality, fairness, and freedom, especially for the most vulnerable in our society.
Over the years staff members have found the ACLU to be an accommodating, inspiring and fun place to work. Although the environment is informal—staff members wear jeans to work a good deal of the time—we are an activist, hard-working team involved in the life of the community.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a career in the service of social justice with a dynamic nonprofit organization. ACLU of Ohio staff are committed to equality, respectful of diversity, and are willing to go above and beyond to get the job done.
To apply, please email a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. In your cover letter, please indicate how you heard about the position.
